Frequently Asked Questions
Where is CUPC2026?
Conference events, including speakers, presentations, tours and panels will be held at McMaster’s beautiful main campus, 1280 Main St. W., Hamilton ON. The schedule will include the times and locations for each event.
When is CUPC2026?
The conference runs from Thursday October 15 – Sunday October 18.
Do I have to stay at one of the conference hotels?
No, you are free to arrange any accommodations you like, and you may decide that you live close enough to commute to the conference daily. Most of the conference activities will take place on campus.
Hotel Booking Group Rates are closing and I haven’t registered for the conference yet. What should I do?
You should book the hotel right away. It is most likely possible to cancel your hotel booking if your abstract is not accepted (make sure you verify this yourself, and check whether there are non-refundable booking fees). We regret that the hotels were unable to formally extend the special rates for the conference. We are hoping to accept as many abstracts as possible so it is very likely that yours will be accepted.
I’m having trouble booking my hotel through the link provided. What should I do?
We recommend calling the hotel directly, explain your issue, and mention that you are attending CUPC (Canadian Undergraduate Physics Conference). Your hotel bookings are between you and the hotel.
I am currently in High School. May I register and present my research at the conference?
We commend your early interest in Physics. Regrettably, only undergraduate students may register for the conference. We hope you will be able to attend a future conference as an undergraduate student.
I have emailed cupc@mcmaster.ca with a question. Why haven’t I heard back yet?
As we get closer to the conference, we are receiving many inquiries about abstract submissions, registration, hotels, schedules, etc. The CUPC 2026 organizers are all undergraduate physics students. Like you, they are juggling classes, labs, coursework, research, jobs and their CUPC role. Please be patient – we will get back to you as soon as we can!
