About

What is the CUPC?

Held annually since 1965, the Canadian Undergraduate Physics Conference (CUPC) is an undergraduate conference in which students from all over Canada engage and share knowledge regarding physics and astronomy.

The conference is designed by and for Canadian undergraduate students in collaboration with the Canadian Association of Physicists (CAP). Attendees will have an excellent opportunity to network with peers and industry professionals. Keynote speakers will highlight exciting Canadian physics research while panel discussions explore physics careers and the opportunities and challenges facing the Canadian physics community.  Most importantly, student oral presentations and poster presentations will celebrate the best of Canadian undergraduate physics research!  The Graduate Studies and Industry Fair is an excellent opportunity to explore post-graduate opportunities for Canadian students.

Where is this year’s CUPC?

The 59th Annual Canadian Undergraduate Physics Conference will be hosted by students at the University of Waterloo from October 26th to 29th, 2023. With a goal to maintain a safe and inclusive conference, the U of Waterloo organizing team are designing an accessible and intellectually stimulating environment for the brightest young minds in physics.

How can my university host CUPC in 2024?

Students interested in hosting the 2024 CUPC should consider forming a team (typically 3-5 students) to construct a bid presentation.  Contact the organizers of this year’s CUPC to let them know you are intending to present your bid at the final banquet so that time can be set aside for your presentation.  More details and suggestions on the bidding process will be available later. Please note that this year’s organizing team will be more than happy to share their experience with the process of organizing a conference of this scope.
