2021 Team

A MESSAGE FROM OUR CO-CHAIRS:

Welcome, everyone! As you may or may not know, for the first time since its inception, X University will be hosting the Canadian Undergraduate Physics Conference (CUPC). Our wonderful and dedicated team is excited to make history and show the physics community what X Physics has to offer. We hope to provide delegates with an enjoyable and memorable conference experience, from the comfort of their homes. We are eager to share everything we have planned for this conference, and cannot wait to see you there!

The Co-Chairs:

Neha Nasir (she/her) Honours Medical Physics (B.Sc.), X University  Hi everyone, my name is Neha Nasir and I am a third-year Medical Physics student at X University. My interests in physics lie in Medical Imaging technologies as well as Biophysics to further understand the applications and mechanics behind many biological phenomenons. On this year’s team, I oversee the planning, promotion, and logistics of the events that will be taking place at CUPC 2021. I cannot wait to share all the exciting things we have planned for this year. A fun fact about me is that I love to cook and am always looking to experiment with new foods and recipes. I look forward to virtually seeing you all at the conference and hope you all enjoy it as much as we did planning it!
Helen Melino (she/her) Honours Medical Physics (B.Sc.), X University  Hi delegates! My name is Helen Melino and I am a third-year Medical Physics student at X University. My physics interests include Medical Imaging modalities such as MRI and Ultrasound, and I hope to become a Radiologist someday! On this year’s CUPC team, I have been running the social media accounts and channels, as well as helping manage our team finances and spending. I am so excited to show you all what we have in store for this year’s conference! Some interesting things about me are that I am a competitive dancer on the Rams Dance Pak, and I have a pet dog named Beckham. I am so excited to share what we have planned for CUPC 2021 cannot wait to meet you all virtually this fall!

The Team:

Donald Kondi (he/him) Honours Medical Physics (B.Sc.) Co-op, X University Hey delegates! My name is Donald Kondi and I am a third-year Co-op Medical Physics student at X University. My interests in physics lie in the Medical Imaging field, more precisely machinery operation and improvement. Some interesting things about me are that I love working on cars, motorcycles, basically anything that has an engine in it and the physics applied to it. I look forward to meeting you all during the virtual CUPC 2021 this fall for this amazing event!
Gustavo Cicchini Santos (he/him) Honours Mathematics (B.Sc.), X University  Hello everyone! My name is Gustavo Cicchini Santos and I am a fifth-year Mathematics student minoring in Physics at X University. My interests lie in theoretical physics particularly in statistical mechanics and particle physics. I am excited to plan CUPC 2021 and make it a great experience for you all. Some interesting things about me are, I have a one-year-old German Shepherd named Laika, and I am a pilot.

Jasleen Banga (she/her) Honours Medical Physics (B.Sc.), X University Hey Everyone! My name is Jasleen Banga, I am a X University student majoring in Medical Physics with a minor in Biology. I have a keen interest in Oncology and the different applications of Medical Imaging used in the diagnosis and treatment of various cancers.  I am very honoured to be part of the CUPC 2021 team and making it a memorable conference for everyone. Some fun facts about me; I love hiking, travelling, making new vegetarian dishes and I am currently obsessed with K-dramas.
Melanie Sanginesi (she/her) Honours Medical Physics (B.Sc.), X University  Hey everyone, My name is Melanie Sanginesi and I am a second-year Medical Physics student at X University. My interests lie in image-guided radiotherapy, cancer treatment, and nuclear physics. A fun fact about me is that I love music, and every year I try to set a new record for how many concerts I can go to. This year obviously has put a hold on my concert hobby, but I’m excited to beat my high score of 10 when it’s safe to do so. In the meantime, I am super excited for our virtual conference, and can’t wait to meet you all!
